Your Right to Data Deletion

At Simply Fluent, we respect your privacy and your right to control your personal data. You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time.

Delete Your Account in the App

1. Open Simply Fluent and open the menu on the Home screen
2. Choose Account
3. Choose Delete account at the bottom of the screen and confirm

Right away, this deletes your sign-in account and removes your name and email address from your Simply Fluent account, from our subscription provider (RevenueCat) and from our mailing list.

Within 24 hours, we also delete everything else in your account:

• The books and texts you imported, including text you pasted or typed, and their covers
• Your reading progress and reading history
• Your saved translations, decks and flashcard progress
• Your statistics, streaks and achievements
• The words you looked up and the explanations you asked for
• Your support conversations, including any screenshots and attachments
• The devices your account was signed in on
• The age category we received from the app store

Only your purchase records are kept, linked to an internal account ID with no name or email address, for as long as tax and accounting law requires. See What We Retain below.

If you have a subscription: deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. Cancel it first in your store account settings (App Store: Settings > your name > Subscriptions; Google Play: Play Store > profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions). The delete account screen in the app has a button that opens this page for you.

How to Request Data Deletion

If you can no longer open the app, you can ask us to delete your account by email:

1. Send an email to gdpr AT simplyfluent.com from the email address associated with your Simply Fluent account
2. Include a clear request for your account to be deleted
3. We'll respond with a confirmation request to verify your identity
4. Once verified, we'll proceed with deleting your personal data

What Gets Deleted

When we process your deletion request:

• Everything listed under Delete Your Account in the App above
• Your customer record at our subscription provider (RevenueCat). Card details are held by Apple, Google or Stripe, never by us

What We Retain

We may retain certain types of data even after processing your deletion request:

1. Crash reports and app usage statistics: These are held by Firebase and Sentry, linked to an internal account ID and not to your name or email address, and those services delete them automatically after a set period.

2. Purchase-related data: Information related to your purchases and financial transactions may be retained for longer periods to comply with tax laws, financial regulations, and other legal obligations. For specific details on how long we retain financial data, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Processing Time

We aim to process all deletion requests within 30 days of verification, in accordance with GDPR requirements.

If you have any questions about the data deletion process, please contact us at gdpr AT simplyfluent.com.
