How to describe Simply Fluent.
In one line
Simply Fluent is a reading app for people learning a language.
In a paragraph
Simply Fluent is a reading app for people learning a language, on iOS and Android. You read your own books or books from the library. Translate a word or phrase and you see all its meanings, with the one it has in that sentence highlighted. Save the translation, and it is shown above that word or phrase in every book you read in that language, and it becomes a flashcard. The library has short stories and classics rewritten in modern language, in 45 languages and graded by level.

He learned Spanish and Portuguese by reading too. He started Portuguese from zero, with only his Spanish to help, and his first Portuguese book had 300,000 words. It took him 26 hours of reading. For Simply Fluent 2.0 he redesigned every screen, over a hundred of them, three times.

Almost nine years, no investors
Marco has worked on Simply Fluent for almost nine years and paid for all of it himself. He had never built an app before he started. Apple featured it on the App Store in 2025, the year it came out there.
Learning Spanish from books
Marco learned Spanish with Simply Fluent and nothing else, after a few weeks of flashcards for the first few hundred words. Four months after his first Spanish book he spent five weeks on his own in Colombia, getting by in Spanish. He is not a teacher, and he says the best method is the one you will stick with and enjoy.
Free reading level tests
The site has free tests that place you on the CEFR scale in about five minutes, with no sign-up. They are in Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian and Dutch. At the end you see every question, your answer and the misreading each wrong answer was written to catch.
