Portuguese reading level test
Short passages with three questions each. Answer well and the next one is harder; struggle and the next one is easier, until the test finds your reading level.
- Passages in Portuguese, questions in English
- 3 passages at most
- About five minutes
How it works
It starts in the middle
The first passage is B1, not A1. Starting at the bottom spends two passages on text that cannot tell an intermediate reader anything, and every extra passage is someone giving up before the end.
It moves toward you
Two of three right and the next passage is a band harder. One or none and it steps back down. Land in between and the test stops, because that passage is already the answer.
It shows its working
At the end you get the ladder you walked, your reading pace, and every question with the answer you picked and the misreading it was written to catch.
What this is
This measures whether you followed the passage, not whether you recognised the words. It is a comprehension check rather than a placement exam, so treat it as a good signal about reading and nothing more.
